Marcelo De Vega - “Conversation”

Marcelo De La Vega is a fresh take on vintage sounding music. Incorporating organic instruments and vocals that sound like you’re listening to him live, Marcelo takes you back to the early 2000s era of melancholic music with his new single, “Conversation.” His new single is a part of his debut EP, Conversation, with four other truly touching songs including title track, “Conversations.” The EP is about heartbreak, recent heartbreak that is so fresh it’s all you think about. Marcelo wrote this EP after a heartbreak and it’s the journey of him processing the whole thing. “Conversation” is about accepting that the relationship ended and there are new things you’ll encounter and learn as you move on. Give “Conversation” a listen and dive into Marcelo De La Vega’s new EP.

JW Francis - “I Love You”

Recently signed to Sunday Best Recordings, JW Francis releases his track “I Love You”, drawing inspiration from artists such as The Velvet Underground, Jonathan Richman, and the eclectic sound of New York to create dreamy bedroom pop with hints of lofi influences. In the song “I Love You”, Francis introduces a love letter to the city of New York. In his life, Francis has been a wandering soul, never staying in one place for too long and non stop touring; playing close to 72 shows across different states and countries before the pandemic. In “I Love You” he describes a feeling of admiration and gratitude that is greatly emphasized by the repetitiveness of the honest lyrics. With the head bopping melody, blend of soft instruments, and Francis’ warm voice, you can't help but feel the wholesome vibes this song radiates.

Trip Carter - “Heavyweight”

Praised singer-songwriter, rapper, producer, and bassist Trip Carter presents his latest single “Heavyweight” off his upcoming EP. This track is dedicated to those who stick by your side during times where you need the most support; when you're lost and they guide you out and without hesitation carry some of your weight. Trip is able to transcend past his beautifully comforting lyrics with his silky smooth vocals and mesmerizing bass lines that captivate the listener for 2twominutes. With great acclaim already on his belt from Elevator Mag and Pigeons & Planes, you can expect nothing but the best from this rising star!

Cassia - “Right There”

The upbeat and bright electric “Right There” leads Cassia into sunnier days from the loneliness and uneasiness born from the lockdown. Released in a two-song release, Cassia also released “Gotta Get Through Til Monday” alongside “Right There.” Its cascading rhythm and jumpy melody fill the air with uplifting energy turning the lyrics in on itself, in contrast to the original version of the song, a slower piano rendition. “Right there” talks about the specific feeling of loneliness and picking things apart, a vicious cycle that others can relate with, while simultaneously “taking those lows and sticking a finger to them,” according to Cassia.

Al Harper - “Hey You, What’s New”

Al Harper, the indie-folkstress has just delivered a new track titled “Hey You, What’s New” that’s equal parts Fleetwood Mac and 70’s rock revival, and we’re not complaining. The new track comes from Promises I Kept, the debut LP from the Bakersfield-born, Oakland-based powerhouse vocalist that set to release this year. Harper’s angelic harmonies set the tone for one that challenges the soundscapes of folk, rock, and indie all in one. It’s a dreamy orbit that most fans can cruise down PCH to while recollecting on the better days of summer, and that’s exactly what we plan to do with “Hey You, What’s New”.

Simone - “everything/nothing”

16-year-old singer/songwriter Simone releases the third song “everything/nothing” on from her accompanying EP. “everything/nothing” encapsulates the feeling of excitement in teenage love and its equal anxiety. Simone sings how  “On the surface, the song is a classic love story, but there are a lot of underlying messages about the pressure and confusion that comes with being a teenager.” The songs' energetic and adventurous sounds contrast the relatable understanding that what they have won't last, but still enjoying the time regardless. The EP Love lessons will be released this summer, with the first two songs, “Kissing Strangers” and “Boy of My Dreams,” already released earlier this year. “Everything/nothing” surrounds the audience with warm feelings and fond memories leading into the summer, and Simonr should stay on everyone's watch list as warmer weather and adventures await.

Winona Oak - “Old Insecurities”

Honest, raw, and a longing to return to who you’ve been are the key ingredients that make up Winona Oak’s new track, “Old Insecurities”. The beautiful single arrives when most artists have trouble speaking the truth, yet Winona Oak paints the pictures of despair and pain with a sense of ease that is not seen in most discographies.

Winona shares about the song process, “I wrote this song on a day when I was overwhelmed with anxiety, as a reminder that there’s no way for me to find a real change in my life until I confront the darkest corners of myself.”

With that in mind, Winona challenges us to face our pain head-on, as the melodies fall on us like a warm blanket during a chilly morning. Alongside the track comes a graceful music video that displays the pain Winona carries while releasing it into the world. It’s something most of us can relate to, and that’s why this track is on our list.

vern matz - “Another Land”

Leave it to vern matz to pluck at all the heartstrings with her sweet, smooth tracks. Their latest single, “Another Land”, brings a fairytale-like vibe with an heartfelt guitar moving the track along mixing with the charming vocals. The band notes, “ 'Another Land' is a fairy tale folk song where the green rays of the sun lie just out of reach. Imbued with the sensibility of a road movie, ‘Another Land’ reaches out from fog, a celestial body leaping out against the night sky as we live, learn, and forget.” Following singles “Fish Tank” and “Funny Water”, “Another Land” serves as a solid addition to vern matz’s growing discography. Short but sweet, “Another Land” gives the listener a perfect dose of a dreamy song to temporarily find a safe haven in.

Peter The Human Boy x Joe Traxler - “Waiting For A Sign”

Vienna-based Peter The Human Boy teams up with Joe Traxler for a soft, groovy track you’ll be gently jamming to. Bringing in elements of surf and indie rock with some elements of dream pop, Peter The Human Boy cerates a feel good soundscape that allows for easy listening. Always taking a DIY approach to his music, Peter The Human Boy wrote and recorded all elements heard on the track. The artist notes, “This song deals with disorientation and a state of modern life paralysis, in which we’re waiting for signs and hints to where we should set our next step, unable to recognize them as such in the endless streams of information and disinformation.” Paired with a simple though dreamy video, “Waiting For A Sign” is a sweet introduction into the world of Peter The Human Boy.
