FOLLOWING THE SUCCESS OF 2020’S 34CORINE - Winston-Salem native TiaCorine has returned with the deluxe version entitled The Saga of 34Corine. The 27-year-old rapper was one to watch after her viral hit “Lotto” created the misguided assumption that Tia was just another TikTok one-hit-wonder. But her latest project is an unrelenting presentation of Tia’s range, and talent; simply put, she’s a damn good rapper. Aside from her growing listenership, other industry heavyweights like SZA and A$AP Rocky have praised the self-described “Anime-Trap” artist, alongside DaBaby, who features on a remix of “Lotto,” as well as Kenny Beats who produced the hit single “Luigi” on The Saga of 34Corine.

An artist who is difficult to pigeonhole, Tia also wants to venture into acting, fashion, or even create her own animated series. This kind of creative energy bleeds into The Saga of 34Corine, with the bubbly production and energetic lyrics. “Melodic pop, but it still sounds old school”: this is the kind of sound Tia aims to invoke in her music, and this is owed to the variation of musical influences she was exposed to growing up. Some of these include The Notorious B.I.G. and Ashanti, yet Tia also includes visual references from anime and her favorite films to create a unique hyper-saturated brand of rap. Throughout her latest project, there are interspersed sound bites, one of which includes a clip from the 1998 film Rush Hour on the track “Tacos,” which taps into Tia’s ability to meld her visual and sonic worlds into a cohesive — and incredibly infectious — record. Some stand-out tracks include the mellow and breezy guitar-laden “On P’s,” and the vividly animated “Pancakes,” which wholly encapsulates the psychedelic trap elements of Tia’s music.

With coverage in NME and Paper Magazine, as well as an upcoming performance at Rolling Loud, this year is looking promising for Tia. She is also set to release more music with a now-frequent collaborator, Kenny Beats, and is set to appear on the third season on his YouTube Series, The Cave. However, while we wait, be sure to listen to this dynamic artist and watch out for her as she continues to carve out her own prismatic lane in rap music.
