Review: SG Lewis in San Francisco
SG LEWIS’ LATE FRIDAY NIGHT PERFORMANCE at 1015 Folsom in San Francisco was an electrifying experience that kept the crowd dancing until the early morning. The night kicked off at 10pm with three opening DJs Proof, Sharon Buck, and Izzy West. By the time SG Lewis took the stage at 1am, the venue was jammed packed there was barely any room to move around.
His two-hour set was a showcase of his talent for creating infectious songs that always bring just great vibes. Although I had expected to hear more of his popular tracks from his latest album AudioLust & HigherLove like "Vibe Like This", “Holding On”, “Infatuation”, his remix of "More Than a Woman" by the BeeGees, or "Chemicals" but the setlist leaned heavily towards his club and party songs. Despite this, the performance was thoroughly enjoyable and kept the dance floor busy all night.
A standout moment was when he played tracks from his recent EP HEAT with Tove Lo. The crowd blew up when the single "Heat" came on, with everyone singing along and dancing. The synergy between SG Lewis and the audience was touching, I caught him many times interacting and humbling thanking many people (probably which were telling him they love his music) near the front, based on the hand gestures he was giving out. The visuals were nothing too spectacular but lighting added that extra layer of excitement and atmosphere, complementing the music and enhancing the overall experience.
Overall, the performance was a memorable night of great music and high energy. It was a testament to his skill as a DJ, producer, and performer. If you have the chance to catch him live, don't miss out – it's an experience that will leave you buzzing long after the final beat.
