Created as a light-hearted joke aimed at their audience, Tawny Falls released their single “James” on July 9th. The slow build to this track leads into a heavy chorus that draws inspiration from 90s punk-pop, alongside “2010s EDM vocal chops,” the duo said.

In previous songs from the group, questions came regarding whom the band wrote the music about; the duo addressed the confusion by creating a song written explicitly about their childhood friend. Once again, poking fun at the audience, the team captioned “James” with the sentence, “about our friend, I think his name is the title” on Soundcloud, utilizing the simplicity of the joke to do the heavy lifting for its punchline.
