Chris Noah - “sunboy”

Welcome to the summer of nostalgia! Chris Noah is back after a short hiatus with a track to happy-go-lucky track to listen to all summer long. “sunboy” opens up with an intoxicating synth lick. Cue boomy 80s inspired drums and the track quickly comes together. “sunboy” isn’t just an upbeat pop anthem, it’s a personal thank you note from Noah. After over a year away from music, Noah was inspired by “the relationships that overcome personal shortcomings and self-destructive habits. It’s a confession of love in many respects – a 3-minute thank you.” Confessions of love over thumping snares reveal more from the singer than we have ever seen before. If you’re a fan of The 1975 and looking for the next in line of nostalgic pop artists, “sunboy” will be the perfect addition to your summer rotation.

Alex BEck - “Tunnel Vision”

Is there anything more intoxicating than falling in love? Alex Back certainly doesn’t think so. Her latest single, “Tunnel Vision” perfectly encapsulates the feeling of getting stuck on another person. The track opens up with ethereal synth hits creating a dreamlike landscape. Beck continues to create this world with a hypnotic chorus. “I’m stuck in tunnel vision” Beck repeats in her sweet pop vocals. She goes on to incorporate a breakdown that feels like being swept up into the stars. With a backdrop of indie guitars and floaty strings, “Tunnel Vision” creates an all-around perfect mood for falling in love.

Ainsley Farrell - “The Way Back”

“Do you know the way back to your hands?” Ainsley Farrell opens the first single from her upcoming album Dirt, with this seemingly innocent question. Driving drums and a continuously repeating guitar lick create the perfect backdrop for her low and lovely vocals. Farrell wrote this song based on a situation when her friend was going through one of the hardest times of her life. Oceans apart, all Farrell wanted was to be able to hold her friend and comfort her. On the single Farrell explains “this song is metaphorically holding her in the light, holding some of that pain for her, until she's ready to put one foot in front of the other and realize it's worth sticking it out in this world.” Although it’s incredible to always check in with friends through screens, it’s still limiting when you just want to be around them. Farrell is next in line for female indie songwriter praise. If you’re a Pheobe Bridgers or Lucy Dacus fan, you’re only missing out if you don’t keep Ainsley Farrell on your radar.

M1sty as1oth - “Takagi”

M1sty as1oth releases new single, “Takagi,” a slow pulling track that wraps around you in loneliness comfort. It’s the kind of track you’ll feel in your chest, the kind of track that resembles the stomach drop but in a way to make you feel less alone. “Takagi” touches on the despair of missing someone and the band creates an experience while listening. Starting off with a slow ballad with emotive vocals before picking up the tempo and entering a energetic heavily rocked out chorus at the end feels similar to the stages of missing someone – yearning, reflecting and a more emotional reaction coming out. “Takagi” is the perfect track to introduce yourself to the world of m1sty as1oth.

IMBER - “Heat”

“Heat” is your new late night track. With a smoothness that brings chills, IMBER utilizes heart beating drums and floating vocals to pull you in. The track starts off with a swift breeze of vocals and drums before bringing in more elements that just find the perfect place in your ears. It’s catchy and exciting throughout – even having notable parts that come at you cinematically. It’s a track that you’ll be playing endlessly this summer and a track that will make you fall in love with IMBER’s discography.

CAPYAC - “GOODTIME”

If you love a good funky song to bring a little more warmness to your day, “GOODTIME” is the track for you this week. CAPYAC brings elements of funk and nu-disco to bring you this groovy track that will have you moving around instantly and bringing a smile to your face in the first five seconds of the track. “GOODTIME” brings in familiar elements from childhood groove and brings in a modern twist with pop elements and vocal sweetness. It’s the track for the summer, an anthem to follow through as they sing, “Try to have a good time.” A good time with CAPYAC is here with this new single, an exciting take on electronica funk.

Rum Jungle - “Crimson Sunset”

Newcastle-based band Rum Jungle brings the heat with “Crimson Sunset” off their new  EP “Everything is Easy.” Crimson Sunset is an upbeat and buoyant surf pop tune and the perfect addition for sunny beach playlists. This feel-good song brings a warm and sun-soaked vibrancy similar to the likes of The Growlers and reminiscent of The Beach Boys. “Crimson Sunset” is a breezy bop as Rum Jungle stays true to their EP title, making the livin’ feel easy. Lead singer Benny says the song “is really just about knowing you can’t have everything and some things can be a bit shit but it’s all good at the end of the day if you’re with good people."

smythy - “gets me down”

Indie pop rock artist smythy brings us the catchy new tune “gets me down” for those days that feel bluer than others. Starting with a mesmeric synth followed by a sprightly combo of guitar riffs and drums, this lively song keeps listeners enticed. Irish musician Andrew Smyth, under the name smythy is making a name for himself delivering “gets me down,” which meaningfully reflects on the sadness often felt through the struggle to find one’s own place and identity. The bittersweet ending evokes a nostalgic mood as the vocalist journeys through feelings of loneliness and days gone by. Equally introspective and relatable lyrics about those times that just get you down make this a heartfelt listen.
