Now Listening: This Week's Tracks

joan - “so good”

joan are back with their brand new alt pop, groovy new track, rightfully named “so good”. This infectious new song is about being captivated by a person who radiates a brightness so intense you want them to be a part of your life forever. The two-piece band are constantly leveling up their production and there's proof of that with this song where they truly do not disappoint. As you listen to this song, you’re literally transported to a 90’s house party where this song comes on. A lighthearted, fun song about love and how life just feels “so good” when you're with the right person who makes you feel whole and happy.

LoveLeo x Rico Nasty - “TUNG TIED”

Musician, Tik Tok sensation, and son of the well-known actor John C. Reilly LoveLeo has revealed his newest track, “TUNG TIED” featuring the “sugar trap” queen Rico Nasty, accompanied with a hair-raising music video. At its core, the single is an ode for hyperpop, where pop meets the avant-garde. The music video directed by Charlotte Rutherford, who’s worked with heavy hitters such as Lil Nas X, Grimes, Rihanna, brings the same majestic sense for “TUNG TIED”. LoveLeo plays an alien from another planet who learned about how humans live by studying their social media, which is ironic given today’s internet-obsessed generation. “It’s a day in the life of an influencer who doesn’t realize he’s the one who’s been influenced,” says LoveLeo. With the help of Rico Nasty, this track sparks a heavy sense of what pop and electronic undertones can do.

Tristan Gregory Smith - “Raincoats”

A sweet introduction to the world of Tristan Gregory Smith, “Raincoats” is that late night song you’ll be playing on repeat. Off his new upcoming album, Sitting With A Stranger, Smith wrote this after meeting someone who never wore raincoats, which was an interesting trait. Along with that little fact, the song itself is filled with interesting traits like resonator guitars, folk instruments, drum machines and glitched out finger pickings. While listening, you’ll be able to hear the influences of Townes Van Zandt and Still Woozy who Smith listened to a lot while recording this single. If you haven’t listened to Tristan Gregory Smith, “Raincoats” is a good introduction to both the beautiful sounds he makes and the energy that flows within his songs.

courtship - “prom”

Created to comfort their fans who lost important milestones due to the Pandemic, Courtship released “Prom” on May 3, 2021. Inspired by the missed chances, the band illuminates the night with a new single talking about what could be. Perfect for a late-night playlist listening with friends, the single establishes a coming of age atmosphere with a tinge of mischief. Leading into the summer, “Prom” is the first single off Courtship’s sophomore album, whose release date is unknown. With a new album on the way, fans can eagerly await the announcement of its release.

J.aaron - “ah lyke it”

Sharing his debut single, J.aaron releases “ah lyke it,” a smooth and melodic track blending hip hop, pop and R&B. The song speaks to his anxiety and depression while maintaining a soulful and relatable atmosphere; adding in lines about his quirks and relatable messages. Leaving his troubled past behind, J.aaron is searching for his “Black Boy Joy” in a time where race is a firey conversation. His light-hearted and soulful sound reflects his efforts, leaving listeners craving more music to groove to and anxious to hear more from the New Jersey native.
