THE LONG AWAITED HONG KONG BOYFRIEND DEBUT HAS ARRIVED - and it sure doesn’t disappoint. The 21-year-old hailing from Mountain View, California, has stepped onto the scene and is ready to hit the ground running. Drawing inspirations from Frank Ocean, Solange and Bon Iver to Travis Scott, Hong Kong Boyfriend brings a full sound to the table that’s able to get you in your feels and bumping to the beat at the same times. After starting off the year playing shows in Los Angeles, his debut single “Cold Waters” serves as an introduction into the varying soundscapes of what’s to come for Hong Kong Boyfriend. The sweet flow of the track guides the listener through a smooth though equally emotive journey. The track’s endearing vocals effortlessly mix with a trap-based beat behind the song making for a contrast that keeps the listener engaged with each note.

Hong Kong Boyfriend notes, “When I was young I met with a girl who played cello and talked a lot more than me. I had a flip phone and a single speed bike. I wouldn’t say we were in love; I would say we were obsessed with each other’s lives. ‘Cold Waters’ is a song about spiraling.”

Tapping into the visual end of Hong Kong Boyfriend’s artistry, the “Cold Waters” music video follows the ups and downs of a young couple’s relationship and dynamic. Directed by Aamir Khuller, the video gives the viewer further insight on the complex nature of love explored in “Cold Waters”.

“Cold Waters” marks the start of a busy rest of the year for Hong Kong Boyfriend, with plans already underway for the next single and an upcoming EP slated for this Fall.
