THER ROXY - ONE OF THE MOST LEGENDARY VENUES IN LOS ANGELES - has seen countless artists come through and perform their music amongst the walls that linger with the tunes of the greats, such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Patti Smith, and The Clash, just to name a few.

On a brisk late November night, Zimmer90 the budding band from Stuttgart, Germany would take the stage, for the very first time on tour in America. I have been a fan since the release of their celestial single “What Love Is” , the title track from their most recent EP. The lyrics, melody, and instrumentation on the song are a gorgeous combination that brings the listener into a world of peace and beauty that only a band like Zimmer90 can do.

Those vibes are exactly what I was hoping for upon arrival at their show at The Roxy. As I walked in, I was immediately excited by the electric vibes. The venue was a perfect match for their very first LA show. I quickly grabbed a drink and waited for them to start. Right on time, the curtains opened up, and the trio looked cool as ever amongst dazzling, and artful lighting.

The band opened with the song “Love Letters”, from their 2023 EP Lake Diaries. A deep cut, and a song about how two humans feel deeply for each other but are scared to take it face to face. The band showcased their talent by utilizing each other to recreate the sounds live through instrumentation and energy. The performance brought me back to when my best friend and I were in love, but during an era where we couldn’t speak about it. Joscha Becker, the band's lead vocalist voice is so indescribable, that when you see him live you can feel it throughout your whole body. The intensity of the energy was so magical, that you wish you could experience it over and over again like it was the first time. Throughout the night Zimmer90 continued to play until I stumbled upon my favorite track, “What Love Is”. The aura within the room, and with the band was so heightened that it took me to a euphoric state. There was a moment where the whole crowd followed the music and lowered themselves to the ground- that’s how impactful it was.

When I walked in, I had no expectations. As soon as the show started I was taken on an adventure that will stay with me for an eternity, and will forever be engraved in my mind, and in my soul. I feel extremely lucky to have been able to have witnessed Zimmer90 at this early stage in their career. Thank you for bringing me back to a time when love was at the forefront of everything I did, and being free was easy for me.
