EVERYONE’S FAVORITE PRIMADONNA GIRL, Marina of Marina and the Diamonds put on a show to remember at the YouTube theater on March 9th in Los Angeles.

Opening for the evening was Pussy Riot - the electro fun high energy punk performance group led by the incredible Nadya Tolokonnikova. Dazzling the stage in a pair of big platform boots paired with a red whip, her background dancers were all in ski masks, bouncing around on stage during the 40 minute set. With energy like no other, Pussy Riot got the stage hyped for the rest of the evening. Playing new tracks “LAUGH IT OFF” and “PUNISH”, as well as hits “My Agenda” and “1312”, Pussy Riot kept the energy strong throughout their entire performance. Sticking to their roots and not giving in to the ever-evolving music industry, Pussy Riot has remained consistent with their political punk nature.

Though known for their powerful tunes, Pussy Riot remains an important global feminist protest art movement. Never shying away from speaking their thoughts, Pussy Riot stands for gender fluidity, inclusivity, matriarchy, love, laughter, decentralization, anarchy, and anti-authoritarianism.

Marina graced the stage in the most festival-like outfit - she was in a black leather body suit with green fluff lining the top of it. She looked like the perfect pop star. Coming out ready to sing every one of our favorite songs - she delivered just that to us. Sitting down at the piano for a few ballads as well, Marina showcased her range of tracks. An incredible talent, the evening proved as to why her music has been relevant for over a decade.

Ending the evening with “Primadona”, Marina knew how to send the crowd home singing along to all their favorite tracks of the evening.
