WITH A BRAND NEW SINGLE “SUGAR RUSH” - Mei makes his anticipated return after the release of his debut album SUPERNOVA. Written and produced by Mei himself, the track talks about the realization surrounding isolation and finding good company within people. Based in Los Angeles, Mei expresses his unique perspectives on life, relationships and identity through his songwriting and producing. Being that he is Chinese American, his culture is an important aspect in his identity, which is why he changed his artist name to Mei, after previously releasing under Brandt Orange. Under Mei it appears that he is showcasing more truth and vulnerability into his art—having truly found himself artistically.

Mei is able to capture the listener, dragging them along into a jazzy pop world of groovy beats and dreamy falsettos. The song lyric itself speaks of a complicated situationship between two people and their doubts regarding time being wasted. A universal issue that he portrays vividly and with such ease that the listener can resonate with, especially in the era of COVID. Along with his releases, Mei has been featured on Spotify’s Fresh Finds, Earmilk, and even toured with Gus Dapperton—which only further proves his potential and his upward trajectory in the music industry.
