Highlighting Global Talent With the Fender Next Class of 2023
THE REVOLUTIONARY MUSICAL INSTRUMENT MANUFACTURER — Fender Musical Instruments Corporation is back with the Fender Next program. The program is celebrating the fifth year of its running with a new class of 25 artists from across the globe. With a focus on innovative guitar-based artists, the Fender Next program has been running for the last four years with the intention of not only fostering a sense of accessibility in the music industry but also acting as a guide for people who are inexperienced in the industry.
With the growing recognition of the program’s commitment to propelling rising artists, they received a record number of over 800 submissions from aspiring artists and A&Rs for the 2023 class. For this year, Fender Next has been intently focused on building a class of diverse participants from various genres, ages, cultures, and backgrounds.
Among the 2023 class is Bartees Strange, an eclectic indie-rock artist from the US. “I am so excited and shocked to be selected as a Fender Next artist,” he says. “I know so many phenomenal artists who've been picked in this program, so I'm pinching myself a little. I've played Fender guitars for my entire guitar life.”
Other artists from the class of 2023 include Grentperez, Chili Beans, Jean Dawson, and more.
Some of the Fender Next alumni include Wet Leg, Omar Apollo, and Phoebe Bridgers. Matt Watts, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Fender, spoke on these incredibly successful alumni: “As we celebrate the fifth year of our Fender Next program, we’re watching many of our alumni achieve monumental career success. The ways in which artists find their rise are evolving and Fender is committed to evolving with them as a brand.”
