Review: Daisy Guttridge Takes Los Angeles By Storm

WHILE IT CAN BE DAUNTING TO TAKE THE STAGE AS LARGE AS THE WILTERN ON YOUR OWN AS AN OPENER - Daisy Guttridge didn’t seem to bat an eye. The England-born and LA-based artist gracefully pranced around the entire stage, her energy managing to full the whole room. Finishing up a 46-date North American tour with Hippie Sabotage, Guttridge kept her spirits high and got the crowd jumping along with her to every track.

Guttridge performed a handful of unreleased tracks off of her upcoming The Highs EP, giving us insight into the forthcoming project that is entirely produced by Tk Kayembe (Kehlani, Masego, Marc E Bassy). The upcoming project serves as a deeper look into her complicated, relatable experiences as a human and an artist, highlighting topics regarding mental health and self discovery.

In addition to some of the new material, Guttridge engaged the audience with released tracks like “Secrets” and her latest single with Marc E. Bassy "Skin”. Fresh off the release of the music video for the collaborative track, the singer/songwriter was eager to perform some of her hits for fans.

Creating both the artwork for “Skin”, and providing creative direction for the video, Guttridge has been able to showcase her creative talents outside of music with her new project. Inspired by iconic films and Italian fashion, the “Skin” music video matches the smooth, sexy feel of the track.

Offering small insight into each track before performing, Guttridge asked the audience questions like “Have you ever been in love?", and cheeky ones like “Do you ever like being bad sometimes?”. Chatting with the audience throughout her whole set and making sure they stay hyped with each note, Guttridge prepared the crowd well for headliners Hippie Sabotage.

With tour wrapped up and an EP on the way, Guttridge has kept a busy schedule and won’t be slowing down anytime soon. Keep an eye out for her upcoming project and get ready for when she comes to a city near you.
