Australian electronic innovator Avalon Kane and experimental polymath Stu Patterson recently came together to release a mesmerizing new track titled “Killing Time.” The song offers an intriguing glimpse into their upcoming full-length collaborative album, which is set to debut later this year.

“Killing Time” crafts a dream-like landscape where ethereal shoegaze elements meet deep, dark ambient soundscapes. Kane’s eerie electronic layers merge with Patterson’s intense, physically-driven compositions, creating an immersive exploration of the cyclical nature of human existence. The melancholic synth patterns of Kane seamlessly blend with Patterson’s evocative vocal arrangements, capturing the constant interplay between intimacy and the wild expanses of life.

Reflecting on the song’s message, the pair says “from new beginnings to relationships that stand the test of time, there are always things we are learning about each other. We are constantly evolving, navigating new situations…the challenge is finding the way through the layers and communicating what we need to become better versions of ourselves. That’s the eternal battle.”

“Killing Time” is the first of 13 upcoming tracks that range from dark ambient atmospheres to shoegaze-infused depths. This track not only sets the stage for their forthcoming album but also cements Kane and Patterson’s status in the avant-garde music scene, promising a transformative listening experience that defies conventional genres and forms.
