MUSICALLY DIVERSE AND DYNAMIC — Simone explores the pop genre by creating tunes that describe the complexity of human experiences, such as the intricate relationships we all go through. Her lyrics are vulnerable, connecting with the fragile and ever-changing emotions of life. Based in New York, Simone has been surrounded by the arts since her childhood. While pop influences are found, Simone wants her music to represent experimentation and fluidity, making her a versatile artist willing to grow.

In her recent release, “Boy Of My Dreams,” Simone explores the concept of attaining what we think we desire, to end up disappointed, which is a prevalent situation in many lives consistently. The song’s lyrics are intimate and paint an image of the aftermath of an ended relationship, which tends to surround illusions falling and perceptions shapeshifting. Sonically, the specific song has an acoustic rhythm, which demonstrates adaptability in her sounds, as she ranges from fast-paced pop to melodious music.

With her single “everything/nothing “out, Simone has no plans to slow down and will release her upcoming EP, love lessons, this Summer. The EP will be filled with diversified sounds and impactful messages, furthering Simone’s growing discography. Temporarily escape with Simone’s latest releases and read below to learn more about the project and what’s next for Simone.

LUNA: How is this Spring season treating you far?

SIMONE: Spring has been treating me well! I’ve been feeling really creative and productive recently, which is always a good thing. It’s also been really exciting to see New York slowly become New York again. I never thought I would miss busy subway stations like I do now.

LUNA: In “Boy Of Your Dreams” you really open up and touch on the end of a relationship, is it ever difficult to get this vulnerable through your music?

SIMONE: I feel like the songs I am proudest of are the ones that are the most honest. It’s really special to me to be able to write about such emotional and meaningful things, and then have other people relate and connect to it. Writing has always been a special form of therapy for me, and because of that it feels natural to be vulnerable.

LUNA: Sonically, what’s your favorite element of the track?

SIMONE: One of my favorite things about this song is that my Dad plays bass on it. He has had a huge role in my music career since the very beginning, so having him play on this track was really special.

LUNA: What can you share about your upcoming EP? How does it compare to the two singles out from the project?

SIMONE: All of the songs on this EP tell stories about different relationships from different perspectives. There are some more pop-sounding songs like “Kissing Strangers,” and some more heartfelt and stripped down songs like “Boy of My Dreams”. I’m really proud of all of these songs, and I’m excited for people to hear them.

LUNA: Are there any themes or sonic elements you’d like to explore more in future music?

SIMONE: I really hope to continue growing as a songwriter and as a vocalist, and to always make music that I genuinely enjoy making. As far as genres, I am really open to try anything. I love experimenting with different styles and it’s been exciting to see more and more people breaking the stereotype that one artist has to make one type of music.

LUNA: It’s been really crazy to see how large of a role Tiktok is playing in the industry. What positive impact do you hope the app can have for artists?

SIMONE: It’s really cool to see artists supporting one another and building a community on Tiktok. It sounds cheesy, but we really are stronger together and I hope that the community continues to grow and become stronger.

LUNA: If you could only take 3 movies with you on a deserted island, what are you taking?

SIMONE: Edge of Seventeen, Perks of Being a Wallflower, and The Truman Show.

LUNA: Now that “everything/nothing” is out, what can we expect from you in upcoming months?

SIMONE: There’s a lot of new projects coming that I’m excited about. I really just want to put out as much content as I can and continue to connect with the people that have been supporting me and listening to my music, because they really mean everything to me.
