She reveals a desire for greater authenticity and honesty in her music, a direction reflected in the project's more organic instrumentation. With "clean hands dirty water," it seems the artist is poised to not only deliver a sonically distinct project but also forge a stronger connection with her fans, exemplified by the lead single "hurt like it should," a mid-tempo, percussive track chronicling her journey towards letting go of a tattered relationship.
LUNA: What sparked the idea for this unique project, a departure from your typical sound?
RENFORSHORT: I think I just felt it was time to start being as authentic and honest with my sound as I could be. I realized the point of making anything expressive is to make what you know. so that’s what I did!
LUNA: What sonic elements differentiate this project from your previous work?
RENFORSHORT: I think it’s overall more organic sounding. We spent a lot of time sitting with the songs and working on making it as close to our standard of perfect as possible. We tried ranging instrumentations, sounds, synths, etc to find what felt right. Most importantly, It feels very authentic to me.
LUNA: How does this project reflect your own artistic growth?
RENFORSHORT: I think it highlights the ambiguity of my music. While it can all easily fit in one project, it feels like each song can stand on its own outside of this project as well. This project reflects my journey of coming to myself and feeling confident enough to make decisions and say what I want to say without the fear of being shut down. It’s overall more honest, and reflective of what i want to share with the world.
LUNA: Can you share a favorite moment from the making of this one?
RENFORSHORT: I would say every moment stands out for some reason or another. If I had to choose one, it would be the first time I got the bounce of ‘getting over you I was not expecting anything from that session, I just felt a little out of it that day. When I heard the first bounce I actually freaked out and called my mom right away and played her the song, I thought it was the most incredible thing I'd ever heard… I was just very proud of myself in that moment.
LUNA: Which track are you most excited for fans to hear?
RENFORSHORT: I would say ‘paris has made me a man’ To me, it feels very unique and representative of the music I enjoy listening to… it’s a little bit of a quiet diversion from the stuff that's out, but not too far fetched
LUNA: What are your hopes for this project's impact?
RENFORSHORT: I really just hope it reaches the right people. The people that need to hear these songs right now. I hope it impacts them.
LUNA: What can we expect on the visual side of this project?
We had a lot of fun with the content for this project. Expect a LOT OF CONTENT….(it’s good content, I swear)
LUNA: What intentions do you have for the spring season?
RENFORSHORT: Making relatable, impactful music. Taking care of myself and others. Family time, friends time. Gratitude :)
