EXPLORING THE ACHE FOR CONNECTION – Emerging alt-R&B artist Limage is unafraid to bare her soul. With the release of her debut EP, Nothing Special, she delivers a strikingly honest exploration of love, longing, and the illusions we create to make sense of our connections. Bared with raw emotion and poetic introspection, the project is a meditation on the nature of relationships—how something that once felt all-consuming can fade into nothing, yet still leave a lasting imprint.
Crafted alongside producer Los Hendrix, Nothing Special immerses listeners in a sonic landscape where aching melodies meet atmospheric production. Limage’s sound pulls from the depths of alt-R&B, hip-hop, and electronica, creating a hypnotic blend that feels both intimate and expansive. But it’s her storytelling that truly sets her apart. With every lyric, she unpacks the contradictions of love—the push and pull of desire and detachment, the way memories linger long after feelings have disappeared.
At its core, Nothing Special is a journal of lessons learned the hard way. The EP doesn’t just recount heartbreak; it dissects it, holds it up to the light, and examines its fractures. It asks: Was it love, or just the idea of it? Did it mean anything, or did we just want it to? In every track, Limage wrestles with these questions, her voice carrying the weight of someone who has lived through the highs and lows of connection and come out the other side, still searching for meaning.
“Nothing Special is an exploration of the ache for connection—the kind that consumes you and feels like everything, only to fade into nothing,” Limage reflects. “It’s about the illusions we hold onto, the stories we tell ourselves to make it real, and the quiet recognition that we’ve been here before. It’s a snapshot of a time when I poured myself into connections that ultimately weren’t special. But looking back, I see how those moments shaped me in ways I can’t ignore.”
This ability to find depth in the seemingly insignificant is what makes Nothing Special so compelling. It’s more than just an EP—it’s a mirror reflecting the ways we search for meaning in our relationships, even when we suspect there’s none to be found. Through her lush soundscapes and deeply personal storytelling, Limage invites listeners into her world where love is beautiful, messy, and often just an illusion. And yet, even in its impermanence, it still leaves a mark.

LUNA: Thank you for talking to Luna. Our readers would love to get to know you and your music more. For any readers who aren’t familiar with you yet, what inspires your artistic style and sound?
LIMAGE: There's not really anyone specific who inspires my sound, but I've been just so in love with a mixture of genres and really, everything I take in influences me. Whenever anyone asks me this, I go to the legends like Michael because he has such a big impact on me. Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, all like the greats. I've been an alt girl all my life, and just love R&B and soul has always just been the root of my sound. Even if I want to try to make a pop song, my voice is still soulful.
LUNA: You just released your debut EP Nothing Special and huge congratulations! I love how it truly stands out in its emotional depth and vulnerability. What is the inspiration behind the project and what themes and emotions do you explore?
LIMAGE: It takes you on a journey of me meeting a person that I know I'm not supposed to be with someone who's not right for you, and the more being around that person, it leads to starting to lie to myself and convince myself that they're this amazing person and they're meant for me, but overall they're nothing special in the grand scheme of things when it comes to like the relationship. It's a huge contradiction through my ego and lust and lying to myself and then the truth being unavoidable.
LUNA: I would love to touch more on the creative process behind the project. What did a typical writing and recording session look like? Did you approach it differently compared to your previous work?
LIMAGE: I would say for a while, I wasn't really connecting as amazingly as I was with producers, as much as I am right now with Los. Once we first connected, it was easily flowing. He would start playing the instrument and words would just emerge. A lot of the project was intertwined with my album, so there's a lot of songs that began flowing right out of me. It was really him building the beat and then me freestyling or writing. It flowed seamlessly.
LUNA: You have collaborated with producer Los Hendrix for Nothing Special. Can you share more about your creative partnership and how it influenced the overall sound and direction of the EP?
LIMAGE: I was hopping from producer to producer, trying to figure out who would be aligned with me to help build my sound. His roots with being a guitarist and also just so multifaceted when it comes to genres, it flowed so easily. Our first song was this indie acoustic song, and after that, he was like, ‘you're not going back to New York, right? You're stuck here, and we have to make a project.’ Everything really just flowed amazingly,
LUNA: What is your favorite song from Nothing Special and why do you love this song? Is there a certain element, lyric or message that you gravitate towards the most?
LIMAGE: That's really hard, because I love them all for their own reason, but I do love the intro to “Drugs” a lot. “Nothing Special” means the most to me because I had produced a version of it six years ago, and I felt like it was so vital and I brought it back and redid it with Los Hendrix, and it just came out beyond the original. It has so much history for me.
LUNA: How do you hope listeners will use Nothing Special as a soundtrack to their own personal experiences? What messages, emotions or experiences do you hope they can take away from the EP?
LIMAGE: I would say, to inspire them to be real with themselves and disconnect from whatever relationship that isn't serving them aligned with their highest purpose. When I created this, what inspired it was being with a narcissist who was very draining. I feel like it's common for people to just get wrapped up in relationships and not put themselves first, so the whole project is really about not allowing yourself to get wrapped up in that relationship that's kind of like a drug and to put yourself first.
LUNA: What is the best environment for someone to listen to Nothing Special in?
LIMAGE: I love listening to it in my car, but also just in my home blasting. I would say in any setting, because there's some songs that make you want to dance, there's some songs that are serious, there's some songs that you can get in your feelings with, so I would just say at any point and you're just hanging.
LUNA: What kind of atmosphere or emotional space do you aim to create for your listeners?
LIMAGE: I try to be as honest and raw as possible, so any message that I am delivering is pretty clear, because music itself has always been a tool for healing for me, so that has been just like 100% what I want for any of my supporters or any listeners to get that. When people are giving you advice, you don't really take it. Hopefully, when people listen to my music, they get some sign or a feeling of getting that message across.
LUNA: How are you feeling in this current era of your career and what does the rest of the year look like that you would like to share with Luna?
LIMAGE: I'm feeling great. I'm feeling excited to release this music that I've been just sitting on. I already have an album in the works, and I'm really excited for everyone to hear. I feel like Nothing Special was nothing special in comparison to all the other music that I've been working on. I'm really excited to grow.
