Q&A: A Shimmering Spectacle, Kinneret Blazes Through Her ‘All That I Know’ Tour
“AS LONG AS I STAY AUTHENTIC — I have a real, spirited community of people who see my vision and are excited to show up for it!” Kinneret says. On her five-part North American tour, Kinneret dazzled audiences in Chicago, Toronto, Brooklyn, Dallas, and LA. A merging of her effortlessly whimsical and bubbly nature with the lively energy that flowed through the crowds fashioned the perfect atmosphere for immersion in a live performance of Kinneret’s shimmering album All That I Know.
A 10-song offering bathed in warm summer sunlight, All That I Know is an amalgamation of effervescent sounds and peppy, unique vocals. Arriving at the cusp of spring, the album provides the perfect soundtrack for the descent into the warmer months.
Still vibrating from the lively energy of her All That I Know tour, Kinneret sat down with Luna to share her own experience of it. Keep reading below to dive deeper into Kinneret’s newfound and growing love for playing her music live.
LUNA: Congrats on your All That I Know tour! How are you feeling post-tour?
KINNERET: I am feeling grateful, proud, and inspired! Meeting my fans in real life showed me that the past few years have truly paid off. People are on board with my vision and ready to show up and sing along. My music is being heard by all types of people in all types of places, and now all I want to do is make more.
LUNA: What has been your favorite song to perform live, and why?
KINNERET: “Blades of Grass” has been my favorite because it’s a nice cool-down from the rest of the set. It almost acts as a meditation. People seem to really resonate with the lyrics about nature and slowing down. Also, I do a surprise duet with PJ, the tour DJ!
LUNA: Does the idea of performing your music live inform the creation of your music in any way?
KINNERET: It never used to, but now that I’ve gone on tour it definitely will. I’m excited to start incorporating my guitar into my music so that I can play it on stage!
LUNA: Which city from the tour has been your favorite to perform in?
KINNERET: Chicago was my favorite, just because it was the first show, and nothing beats that first time walking on stage, seeing my excited fans jumping and cheering. Before the tour I got pretty bad imposter syndrome, feeling like nobody would actually show up for me. The moment I walked on that stage, all of those insecurities disappeared. I completely leaned into the energy of the room and the love for my music, and I sang my heart out!
LUNA: How would you compare the audiences across the cities you toured?
KINNERET: Chicago and Brooklyn were the most excited and interactive, singing along to every song. Toronto and Dallas were a bit shy, but the sweetest during the meet and greets. The word I’d give LA is “observant.” I got the sense that there were a lot of musicians in the crowd, since it’s LA. They reminded me of myself at concerts, studying the music thoughtfully.
LUNA: Have you discovered anything interesting about yourself or your music through this tour?
KINNERET: I discovered that I hate journalling. I journaled throughout the entire tour because I knew my future self would want to read it, but I truly despised every second I took out of my day to articulate my thoughts on paper. The issue is that I am a perfectionist about it… I can’t write a few memories without detailing every memory and every thought, which ends up taking hours! Now, post-tour, I journal strictly through voice memos.
LUNA: What has been your biggest takeaway from the tour?
KINNERET: As long as I stay authentic, I have a real, spirited community of people who see my vision and are excited to show up for it!
LUNA: What goals are you aiming for now that the tour is wrapped up?
KINNERET: Make more music and play more shows! Now that I’ve ripped the band-aid off, I feel like my touring journey has just begun, and I’m excited to put together new sets of new songs and perform them in new cities!
