ADDING HIS SIGNATURE STYLE TO DANCE FLOORS EVERYWHERE — French electro-pop artist Kazy Lambist returns with the release of his newest single, “Cinémed.” A glimpse into his upcoming LP, Moda, “Cinémed” offers an alluring swirl of chill, groovy, feel-good melodies. Ridden with an infectious beat and summer-ready undertones, the song serves as an ode to the prestigious Festival du Cinéma Méditerranéen in Lambist’s Montpellier hometown. The song shows that while the artist has grown significantly throughout the years, Lambist will never forget his roots.

An undeniably talented singer-songwriter with a knack for creating elegant, emotional, and euphoric tracks, Lambist continues to push boundaries and add his own unique spin to dance music. He already has both gold and platinum titles to his name and is on track to go on a worldwide tour, including a 20-concert US leg, alongside fellow French outfit Kid Francescoli.

Luna spoke with Lambist to go further in-depth on “Cinémed,” his upcoming album, Moda, and his 2024 tour. Read the full interview below.

LUNA: How would you describe your sound to those who are just being introduced to you?

LAMBIST: My sound lives somewhere between French electro-pop and chill French touch. My influences are mainly electronic music, but with a focus on melodies.
LUNA: “Cinémed” is the final single before the release of your upcoming LP, Moda. Why did you choose this song to be the final teaser?
LAMBIST:
We always talk about French touch, but I also believe in Mediterranean touch. I composed most of this new album in Rome, Istanbul, and the south of France. It made sense to me to release “Cinémed” to announce the album because it's a film festival in Montpellier that I've been attending every year since I was a child. It felt like it captured the essence of the album and its Mediterranean influences.
LUNA: What was the song’s inspiration?
LAMBIST:
I feel like my songs start from a feeling rather than an idea. “Cinémed” tries to express a genuine feeling of expansiveness and juvenile freedom.
LUNA: Can you talk us through the making of Moda?

LAMBIST: Since lockdown, I’ve traveled a lot. I lived in Rome for two years and visited Istanbul as often as I could. I loved the creative energy of the place. I met musicians from diverse backgrounds who all had in common this Mediterranean identity, many of whom became collaborators on this album. The name “Moda” refers to a neighborhood in Istanbul known for its artistic vitality where I recorded several of the songs.

LUNA: Do you have any favorite lyrics from the project?
LAMBIST:
I like the verse in my song “Dünya,” featuring Turkish singer Sedef Sebüktekin, because it's about staying optimistic and not giving up. This resilience is something I admired in the Turkish artist community, where I've spent a lot of time.
LUNA: Are there any fun facts you can tell us about Moda ahead of its release?
LAMBIST: It's funny to recall that I started making this album with the idea that it would sound completely different than my first album. Now that it's finished, I realize that it just sounds precisely like Kazy Lambist...
LUNA: You’re going on a tour, which is so exciting! What’s one thing while touring that you’re the most excited for?
LAMBIST:
For this tour, it's been really exciting to play for the first time in major creative centers in North America, like Los Angeles and New York City. For my European tour, I'm lucky to have a brand new live band. I can't wait to play my new songs live, give them a second life on stage, and share the energy with the fans!
