RETROSPECTIVELY STITCHED TOGETHER WITH A COMMON THREAD — the five tracks weaving through JERUB’s latest EP, Finding My Feet, were created entirely independent of one other, bound instead by their shared focus on self-exploration.

A colorful tapestry of separate moments from the artist’s venture into the depths of introspection, the EP journeys through growing pains, the art of living in the moment, and an evolution of maturity and self-confidence. With instrumentals viscerally reminiscent of the bubbling tenderness of human connection, Finding My Feet is a sticky-sweet symphony of indie, pop, and soul sounds perfect for summer listening.

Anthemic and lively, Finding My Feet fittingly follows JERUB’s performance at the king’s coronation ceremony. Playing alongside artists such as Katy Perry, Olly Murs, and Paloma Faith, JERUB’s music raged through a crowd of 20,000 people, with even more tuning in across the globe.

Keep reading below to learn more about the creative process behind Finding My Feet, JERUB’s experience during the Coronation Concert, and what’s up next for him.

LUNA: Congrats on Finding My Feet! Can you tell us a bit about the creative process behind the EP?

JERUB: Thank you! So glad the EP is finally out. Interestingly, the songs from the EP were not all written at the same time. They were all quite spread apart but seemed to have an overarching narrative of “finding my feet.” I knew that I wanted that to be the EP title and the theme so I picked the songs that resonated most with that. Every song had a different process. Some started with a guitar in my little spare room, some started after hearing an instrumental from a producer, but all started and finished with meaning. I really wanted them all to be true and authentic reflections of where I was at the time.

LUNA: Was there a process to the ordering of the songs on the EP, or was it more random?

JERUB: I wanted the EP to start with the title track. I love the pulsing piano in the intro of the song and just thought it set a great tone for the rest of the EP. My music can be quite anthemic in its nature so I wanted the next song to be full of energy and have that feel to it, so “Cold” was a great choice. From there, I just wanted to take people on a journey, showing the dynamics of the songs.

LUNA: Of the five songs on the EP, which was your favorite one to write?

JERUB: They’re all my favorites at different times, that's for sure! I’ve heard them so many times, but every time I do it live it has a new life to it. At the moment, I'm loving doing “Cold” live.

LUNA: You recently performed at the king’s coronation ceremony, which is super exciting! What was that experience like for you?

JERUB: The experience was surreal and pretty wild to be honest. It was so much fun to be a part of and I was really honored to play amongst some real legends. Every time I look back, I remember it so fondly! The energy in the atmosphere was amazing.

LUNA: What do you think would be the perfect moment for your music to soundtrack, and why?

JERUB: I feel like my music is quite dynamic. It can definitely soundtrack a bunch of moments. It could be the soundtrack to a new relationship or even a deep friendship. It could also be the soundtrack to someone’s introspective reflections.

LUNA: Do you have any goals you’re hoping to achieve in the latter half of the year?

JERUB: I feel like the year has gone so fast already and so much has happened. For the rest of the year, I'd love to release more music and play some more fun shows. I go on tour with JP Cooper in the autumn so I'm really excited for that!
