FINDING HER FEET NOW THAT SHE'S HIT THE GROUND IN LA - Izzy draws in her listener with a emphasis on the melody and a conversational tone. The artist brings in elements on her musical background, from choir to theatre, as well as some fresh sounds to create her vibey Bedroom Pop sound. While she's just getting started, Izzy is ready to pick up the pace and build her foundation as an artist. Read on to hear more about her transition from Idaho to LA, her plans for 2020 and more.

LUNA: For those that don’t know you and your music, can you please introduce yourself?

IZZY: My name is Izzy! I’m a senior at the University of Southern California and I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember. I just started writing original music a couple of years ago and as of now I have two songs released, and I am about to release my 3rd one. Some of my biggest musical inspirations are Rex Orange County, Daniel Caesar and Billie Eilish.

LUNA: How did growing up in Idaho shape you as an artist?

IZZY: Being in Idaho, I had a lot of opportunities to perform at my high school and around the community, and because it was such a small town I was able to build a reputation there. I was in a Christian rock band in middle school, and I joined choir and did musicals in high school, as well as other gigs with my friends.

LUNA: What was the transition like once you moved out to Los Angeles?

IZZY: It was rough at first. LA is much more competitive than North Idaho, so I didn’t know what I was coming into. However, the pressure that the music industry in LA brings and the knowledge that my friends have been able to share with me have only made me grow as an artist.

LUNA: Who have you been listening to on repeat lately?

IZZY: I’ve been listening to Still Woozy a lot. His music is super laid back and vibey.

LUNA: Can you take us through your creative process?

IZZY: It almost always starts with a melody. Sometimes I come up with it at random times like when I’m in the shower. Other times it takes hours of me singing over a drum loop, or a chord progression. But if I don’t love the melody of a song I’m writing, I’ll throw it out and try again.

LUNA: Do you find yourself having a common theme when writing your music?

IZZY: I love writing songs that sound like a conversation. I don’t want super poetic lyrics, I like to write things that people can listen to and immediately relate to. I’ve also found that the music I connect to the most is not necessarily impressive vocally, but has a unique and catchy melody, so I try to incorporate that into my music.

LUNA: What do you want 2020 to bring you?

IZZY: I hope to release more music and continue to do more shows. I’ve been writing non-stop since “I See You,” so I have a lot of songs on the table that I’m so excited to share with the world. Seeing the impact that just my two released songs have made gives me hope that people want to hear what I have to say, so I’d say this is just the beginning.
