ETCHED AGAINST A BACKDROP OF DREAMY GUITAR RIFFS - Londoner Delilah Montagu channels a powerful message of unapologetic self-expression within her new single, “Coming For Ya”. Co-produced by Fred again… and Benjy Gibson, “Coming For Ya” is illustrative of an artistry inspired by an introspective journey which has been delicately crafted amidst months of lockdown and isolation; in this sense, Delilah’s own self-acceptance is starkly portrayed within Coming for Ya. Within every word lies a resounding and compelling yearning to unleash the artist and listener alike from the ties that seek to contain our preconceived perceptions of love and self-expression.

Influenced by the likes of Phoebe Bridgers, Lizzo and Bon Iver, Delilah showcases a bold shift from melancholic melodies to explore prevalent themes such as sexuality and fluidity which are powerfully etched within the core of Delilah’s music. With a diverse portrayal of real-life couples, present within the visual for Coming For Ya, Delilah acts as a voice that serves to empower her audience and encourage us to celebrate the complexity of our identity and sexuality. Delilah redefines the experience of youthful love as one in which together, we are encouraged to unequivocally accept every intricacy of our emotions, and our experiences that embody youthful love. Coming For Ya shows that love, in whatever form, is a universal feeling that is inescapable, no matter who we are, or indeed, no matter who we choose to love.

Read below to learn more about Delilah’s latest release, and the inspiration behind her upcoming project.

LUNA: How is this spring season treating you?

DELILAH: Very well! I’m living slowly coming out of lockdown and being able to actually hug people again.

LUNA: Sonically, how would you compare your new music to your previous releases?

DELILAH: The new music is heavier and a bit more fun. I’m playing a lot of electric guitar on the new stuff and rocking out a bit!

LUNA: I love the fun attitude and feel of this new music, can you touch a little on the influences that shaped this all?

DELILAH: Thank you! I basically am in a place in my life where I’m just wanting to be a bit wild and have fun - so I think my new attitude has had a major influence on this project.

LUNA: In “Coming For Ya” and the upcoming EP you explore a fantasy world. How does stepping outside yourself and serving as a narrator impact your creative process?

DELILAH: It's freeing! I love being able to tell other people's stories, not just my own and almost act as a voice that people can relate to. My last project was super autobiographical and intimate so its fun being able to let go a bit more and talk about things that I know most people have experienced (for example, sex!)

LUNA: Much like the song, the video has a great energy and I’m sure was a lot of fun to make. Can you share a favorite moment from the making of the video?

DELILAH: Thank you! My favourite moment was when I was jumping on the bed in the last scene and I broke the bed. The set designer wasn’t very happy about it because she had to reconstruct the whole thing haha but in the moment it was funny because I literally went flying onto the floor.

LUNA: With “Coming For Ya” now out, what can we expect from the EP? Any insights?

DELILAH: A fun, bold, crazy expression of being young and in love.

LUNA: A fun one - attach the last photo in your camera roll.

LUNA: What do you hope the upcoming months have in store for you?
