Preview: Capitol Hill Block Party
CAPITOL HILL BLOCK PARTY IS BACK – After being denied its time for the last two years, this Seattle favorite comes back stronger than ever. With big artists like Charli XCX, Beach Bunny, Jai Wolf, Toro Y Moi, Diplo, and 100 gecs, this festival sure knows what they need to bring a crowd. Even with such big acts, CHBP stays true to themselves and makes sure to use this time to support and give exposure to local bands. Returning with more stages than ever before means that festival goers will be able to experience Seattle’s ever-growing music scene with favorites THEM, Small Paul, Seiichi, King Youngblood, Lovely Colours, and La Fonda.
And on the side, you can’t forget about all the great food options that will be in the area! Capitol Hill Block Party has brought in some great vendors sure to satisfy anyone. Early birds can get their caffeine fix at Overcast Coffee, and those looking for a larger meal can fill up on some classic diner food at Lost Lake Cafe & Lounge. Throughout the day take a break with a quick snack from Monster Dogs or Puffle up. At the end of the night, top off on a comforting meal from thai-u-up or with something more refreshing from Sam Choy’s Poke to the Max.
Next up is our day-to-day guide on who to see at this year's Capitol Hill Block Party!
FRIDAY
To kick off the weekend, Charli XCX is headlining on the main stage along with IDK and Brent Amaker and the Rodeo on the Vera stage and Neumos stage respectively. While these are some exciting names, don’t forget to show up early and spend some time getting accustomed to where you can find each of the stages, as well as where to stay hydrated and fueled. Once you walk around the festival, be sure to stop by each stage to check out MELTT, Archie, Dempsey Hope, and Jane Don’t. Going in this order will give you a chance to listen to some amazing music while orienting yourself to where the four main stages are!
SATURDAY
One day down and two to go! Saturday gives you a variety of genres, ending with the choice between four great headlining artists, Jai Wolf, Sudan Archives, Tezatalks, and King Youngblood. Earlier on in the day be sure to check out Enumclaw, a band local to Tacoma and on the rise, you won’t want to miss them. Afterwards, take a little break but keep that energy going with a choice between Danny Brown and Linda from Work.
SUNDAY
It may be a little sad and you might be a little tired, but just make sure to push through and keep that energy going as this third day brings some wonderful artists. Even though this night's headliners have some time between sets, you’ll have to take your pick between Diplo, The Beths, The Grizzled Mighty, and JusMoni. Before heading out when the weekend ends make sure you don’t miss some of the great local bands playing earlier in the day like SuperCoze, Among Authors, and Claudine Magbag.
After a two-year hiatus, Capitol Hill Block Party is sure to give you your fill of talented musicians and artists, as well as some unforgettable memories.
