LUNA: For starters, how did you first get into photography?

CASEY: I’ve always loved photography but first got serious about it in college. I took an intro to film class and instantly fell in love with it! I ended up majoring in studio arts with a focus in photography.

LUNA: How have you seen your style evolve over time?

CASEY: My style in college was so much different than my style now. When I first started, I shot strictly on black and white film, my work was heavily inspired by old horror movies. Now, my work is very colorful and has a completely different feel to it. I love both - my style is constantly evolving as I am!

LUNA: I love all of the colors going on in this series, what inspired you to incorporate such a fun color palette?

CASEY: Thank you! I think my work can be very chaotic so I really wanted to emphasize that during this shoot. I wanted the shoot to be filled with different colors, textures, and just overwhelming in the best way. Thankfully my amazing stylist helped bring that vision to life!

LUNA: What was the planning process like for this shoot?

CASEY: I’ve had the idea of a chaotic tea party for a few months now. I reached out to a friend (stylist) who helped with the planning process. To be honest, everything was pretty last minute, which I loved about it. I gathered set supplies the week of the shoot and we didn’t do any styling until the morning of - we even added some last minute models. Thankfully, it all came together in the end!

LUNA: Can you share a favorite moment from the day of shooting?

CASEY: I loved the getting ready process! It was so much fun seeing the models express themselves through hair, makeup, and styling. We made sure each look fit their personalities. I think my favorite part of the shoot was just being able to create with such an amazing group of people!

LUNA: Which photo from this set are you most proud of?

CASEY: That’s a tough question - I love so many of them! I think it may have to be one of the group shots in the studio. The colors and lighting worked so well together. It was my first time photographing that many models at once so it was definitely a challenge, but I love the results!

LUNA: What steps do you take to ensure your model is comfortable?

CASEY: My first priority is always to make sure my models are comfortable. I always make it clear that this is their shoot and that we will only do poses and looks that make them feel their best. I love to watch their confidence build throughout the shoot - it’s crazy how different they are at the beginning versus the end!

LUNA: With things opening up and more shoots happening, what are you looking forward to in the upcoming months?

CASEY: With more opportunity to shoot, I’m definitely looking forward to traveling more. I actually just got back from shooting in LA (I’m also dying to visit NYC soon)! I love creating in new cities with other creatives. Hopefully, I will be shooting with more brands & artists in the upcoming months.
