CREATING THE GENTLE BEDROOM POP YOU NEED THIS FALL - Nari has been a longtime staple in our rotation. We last chatted with the charming singer back in the Spring of 2020 and a lot has changed to say the least - now based in Kentucky with a handful of tracks out, Nari has continued to grow as an individual and artist. Our latest ‘On Aux’ guest, Nari brings a sweet feel to the playlist that’s perfect for the changing Fall weather.

With elements of everything from new age bluegrass to Indie-Pop, Nari’s music covers a lot of ground while always bringing the listener in with each note. It’s of no surprise to see her range of picks, from Wayne Hancock to Dreamer Boy, fill her playlist. Check out her full playlist on Spotify, read more about some of her selects below and keep an eye out for her upcoming LP out next year.

Wayne Hancock - “Thunderstorms and Neon Signs”

I’ve never been a country fan before moving to Kentucky and playing music here. Majority of this playlist is gonna be folky, country songs I’ve been really digging lately, the hold this type of music has on me is frightening. This song has got a nice swing to it and makes me feel like Ive been touring for ages and just need to get to a Holiday Inn. His voice is awesome and that swooning steel guitar is great. Perfect for my evening walks.

Nate Budroe- “Caught You Prayin”

Nate and I met through instagram through mutual friends in the Bay Area music scene where I’m from. I’ve always been a big fan of his writing, it’s super thoughtful and strikes a certain chord with me. The line “I’ve got plans and dreams enough for two” makes me sob uncontrollably on my bathroom floor.

Cut Worms - “Til Tomorrow Goes Away”

This song just makes me wanna dance around a state fair, all the sounds are so fun and it’s super upbeat. The turn around in the chord progression is exciting and makes the song interesting. The 1950s swing contrasts the songs somber lyrics, so depending on the day i’m either singing at the top of my lungs driving down country roads having a blast or i’m heading home from the bars sobbing in my car at 2am.

Worn Tin - “Chartreuse”

I had the pleasure of meeting Warner a few years back and he’s a real goofy character. This is a great laid back love song and all the instrumentation fits in so nicely into the mix. The first verse has such a great syllabic flow to it and gets me swinging, all of his music is simply amazing.

Andrew Bird - “Pulaski At Night”

I remember hearing this song for the first time back in 2017 and fell in love with the violin on this track. the witty arrangement of all the plucks tickles a very special part in my brain. This song sparked my love for the fiddle and it wouldn’t be until 2020 when I finally met my bandmate, Ella Webster who has a killer ear and provides all of the violin on my tracks. I chose to opt out of using live synths and keys and have left it all to Ella, shes so skilled it’s inspired me to pick up the violin. Won’t be good anytime soon, but it’s one of my favorite instruments to hear in this type of music.
