Now Listening: This Week's Tracks

JW Francis  - “Casino”

JW Francis’ music never fails to be warm and bright, lingering sweetness and bursting with light. His newest single, “Casino,” is a new addition of reasons to love him. Throughout the song, JW Francis touches on the gamble of being a musician, telling the story from his own experience. It’s filled with an upbeat sense of hope and yet a little bit of hesitance as you would feel if you were in a casino. He’s easily become a staple for indie and bedroom pop lovers but deserves far more attention, so let us introduce you to him!

High Sunn - “June’s Mist”

High Sunn is another staple in bedroom pop. The first time I listened to him I was maybe a freshman in high school and now I’m a senior in college. Throughout all that time, his sound has stuck and even with some experimentation — he makes it feel like it’s his own atmosphere within his sound. “June’s Mist” is everything you need to hear right now, right at the end of summer. As his upcoming project, REAL. CONNECTION. ACQUISITIONS., touches on love and aspirations for his years in maturing age — you’ll here these themes in “June’s Mist,” not just with lyrics but sound. It feels nostalgic for youth and bittersweet for growing up.

Seiichi - “143”

A slow burn one for August. Seiichi’s new track, “143,” builds up inside you, brews a bit as the song goes on and leaves you thinking about the song for a while after. The song touches on rekindling a lost love, full of yearning and reflection that feels tough to do after such a while. Seiichi encapsulates that feeling perfectly as the instrumentals are focused on the acoustic guitar and his vocals harmonizing together and blending into each other seamlessly. That’s all he needs to make this song stick and hurt but in the best way possible. It’s the perfect song to introduce you to the world and sound of Seiichi.

Braden Lam - “don’t let go”

The latest single from Canadian indie-folk artist, “don’t let go” is the indie anthem we’ve all been waiting for. The track opens with Lam’s voice delicately crooning, “if you’d like to lay beside me, close your eyes, head on my heartbeat.” Cue a driving guitar and drums that lead the track forward towards a chorus of voices begging a past love, “don’t let go”. Lam carefully crafts the story of holding onto someone you love even after they’re gone. With a twinge of nostalgia hanging over a bed of acoustic guitar licks, Lam brings everything together to create this beautiful summer anthem.

Young friend - “ENDLESS”

ENDLESS is creating a melting pot, throwing in everything we love about indie. The backbone of the track and the entire young friend project is grungy bedroom-pop. There’s a dreamy aspect to this latest single, layering together with fuzz and leading guitar melodies. The project of Drew Tarves, young friend is the culmination of an artistic journey. After switching from being a full-time dancer to jamming with friends and finally creating his own songs, young friend’s sound is a reflection of Tarves himself. ENDLESS seamlessly blends together grunge, electronic pop, and classic indie rock, making it nostalgic yet fresh all at once. This single is the first taste of young friend's first full project, HOW DID WE GET HERE? due out September 9th.

Little Jet - “Give Me Love”

Giving us some further insight into the upcoming debut EP, Little Jet takes us on a psychedelic journey smooth enough to make you think you’re floating on a cloud with “Give Me Love”. Co-produced by Neil Frances’s Jordan Feller, “Give Me Love” layers charming vocals with disco, electronic and indie production elements to create the unique sound of Little Jet. You’ll quickly find yourself tapping your toe along to the infectious beat and eager to learn the lyrics so you can sing along. An overall feel good track, “Give Me Love” serves as a great addition to the duo’s growing discography and has us excited for their upcoming EP.
