Now Listening: This Week's Tracks

Kevin Holliday - “Put It Down”

Entering the realms of early lust and infatuation, Kevin Holliday does not shy away from topics that highlight the early stages of pleasure. The latest offering from the Brooklyn’s singer titled “Put It Down” meshes sultry funk and pop melodies in a successful attempt to show the reality of temperamental and fleeting feelings of fascination.

The track is paired with a music video that marks the artist's directorial, debut, inspired by his recent time spent watching VHS home movies from his childhood. Holliday’s retro-infused single has stunning falsettos and seductive influences from early soul and R&B records of the 70s and 80s.

Chloe Lilac - “how does your girlfriend feel about it”

Chloe Lilac flawlessly showcases the best of early 2000s Avril-inspired pop in her new single “how does your girlfriend feel about it”. Due out April 29th, the song offers a perfect balance of angst, powerful guitars, and an intoxicatingly smooth vocal melody. Chloe intricately navigates the complexities of grief throughout this track, fully supported by driving drums and a little bit of cowbell. Chloe delivers this song as an appetizer to her upcoming mixtape and her upcoming tour supporting Pom Pom Squad, kicking off April 14th.

Flora - “Violets Are Blue”

Born into a family of artists, rising artist Flora gives us further insight into her upcoming debut album with single “Violets Are Blue”. At only 15 years old, Flora’s sweet vocals layer effortlessly with a charming indie melody, complete with a chorus sure to get stuck in your head.

Utilizing time in quarantine to hone in on her musical craft, Flora released her first project After Keep Calling before quickly shifting her focus to her first full-length album, Emerald City. Working with her family as well as instrumentalists like a horn player, string player, session drummer and guest vocalist, Flora continues to craft her delicate yet attention-grabbing sound. Complete with a retro fever dream music video filmed by Jerry P of BLACKSTARKIDS!, “Violets Are Blue” is sure to get you hooked on Flora.

MIYNT - “Lonely Beach”

The newest single from Stockholm artist Miynt feels like an ephemeral experience. “Lonely beach” offers understated and velvety vocals floating over a wave of psychedelic-inspired textures. Speaking on this latest track Miynt describes that "Lonely beach is kind of a metaphor for periods of my life. At times there are a lot of friends and tourism at the beach, but the beach never leaves the beach. Leonardo di Caprio never finds the beach. Life is a beach.” It’s almost comforting to know that there will always be a beach somewhere for all of us. Miynt takes us along on this lovely, summery track leading up to her full-length album Lonely Beach, due out May 6th.

Lo - “Giver, Lover, Pet”

Perth-based singer/songwriter Lo is back with her latest release “Giver, Lover, Pet.” Intertwining poignant lyricism and hazy indie pop, the singer chronicles the unhealthy aspects of a relationship: focusing on giving all you have to someone you love and receiving little (if nothing you actually deserve) in return. As Lo reaches this challenging realization, her storytelling is filled with a sense of nostalgia that almost speaks on your own behalf.

Accompanied by a stellar music video with steady and still cinematic shots, Lo has created the perfect soundtrack for broken and healing hearts. “Giver, Lover, Pet” is a stunning precursor of what lies ahead for the singer.

DELTA wants to bring listeners along on a journey of mind and spirit. Complete with an intoxication saxophone solo, “Lumination” succeeds as a track to simply enjoy. DELTAs vocals are almost Spoon-like and round out the track with their indie vibes. Paired with a relaxed beat and driving bass line "Lumination" ticks all the boxes. Check out DELTA and stay on the lookout for upcoming tracks from the project.
