Now Listening: This Week's Tracks

Ed Mount - “Distant Calls”

“Distant Calls” encapsulates every sweet and warm feeling into a melody that follows you throughout the day. Ed Mount is joined with singer Flore Benguigui, singer of l'Impératice, to bring you this groovy take on modern indie pop. Ed Mount is a jazzman but inspired by multiple elements his music is a piece of art that you won’t often hear. The track is reminiscent of Crumb and Men I Trust, giving off that nostalgic feel we crave all the time. The track touches on dealing with fading friendships but brings an optimistic feel to the idea. As if, they are fading but that only means more is to come and with the new year around the corner, we can make the best out of what we got.

Listen to Ed Mount’s “Distant Calls” and be introduced to his colorfully smooth music.

FLOWERBABE - “The Moon”

With a flood of emotions both inside and out, I hope you think of me when you see the moon and the stars. Inspired by LOFI and 80’s synth, FLOWERBABE leads their new two song release with “The Moon.” Grabbing at your heartstrings and tugging hard, “I hope you think of me when you see,” overflows with sparkling emotion as the chicago based artist pours his heart and soul into the cosmos. “The moon” takes you on a comforting ride, shining bright in the dark of night with it’s timeless and soft synth. Robby Spence, a.k.a FLOWERBABE takes the listener along with him as he sings his heart out with soft bells ringing along side him.

Miakie - “Resonating”

Miakie’s newest track, “Resonating,” is an all over smooth feel of indie pop, R&B and soul. The track is full of flickering elements that pop up to greet you sweetly. With the theme of friendship going sour, Miakie does an incredible way of portraying it through not only her vocals and lyrics but through the instrumental flares throughout. “Resonating” serves as a strong debut from Miakie and she’s currently working on her upcoming EP. With a sweet introduction like “Resonating,” we won’t be surprised if her next single “Infatuated” becomes a Luna fave.

LUCA - “Serotonin”

Flowing with constant silky smooth guitar and bass , LUCA releases his debut single “Serotonin.” As a musician, he consciously works with his style of vocals to convey a natural flow that matches not only himself, but also the story he wants to tell. “Serotonin” tells the tale of opening up to someone that breaks your heart in the end, a narrators view on two people figuring out what love is to them. With a blend of old neo, newer soul, house and light techno, LUCA’s release draws you into his world, expanding upon the feelings each person takes from his music.

Bottle Rockets - “When I Tell You”

The newest track from Glasgow natives Bottle Rock is a heavy-hitting melancholic rock ballad with "When I Tell You,” voicing the irritation of not having any luck, or rather anything good, happen to you in a specific time frame. When everything seems like it’s all against you, Bottle Rock sums up those emotions and delivers it into a solemn new-wave-like track that has anyone ready to shove the stress out and lock the headphones in. The track has a lick that rings similarly to The Cure, Cocteau Twins, or even Beabadoobee. It’s clear that Bottle Rock excels at making the personal feel so relatable on “When I Tell You” while pacing in reverberated guitars, punchy lyrics, and an aura that clings to coming of age themes, something most of us need in the darkest of times. “When I Tell You” was just released as of December 11, and it’s just the beginning for this newly formed band.
