Now Listening: This Week's Tracks

Quelle Rox - “Space Parade”

Quelle Rox is a bedroom/dream pop queen with songs full of velvety sounds, blending with her silky voice to create a dream world in your head. “Space Parade” is Quelle Rox’s first Spanish and English song, showing the multilayers of herself on a song about unrequited love and going through the cosmos to find peace from it. “Space Parade” is catchy through lyrics and sound, you’ll have it stuck in your head all day or you’ll be dancing around to it in your room. The track is from her upcoming EP and with the vibe it gives off, we’re excited to hear more from Quelle Rox.

Jordana - “I Guess This Is Life”

With silvery vocals, poignant lyrics and gentle production, Jordana's “I Guess This Is Life” is a song that leaves one feeling nostalgic and lost. Thanks to its indie-folk bedroom sound, the tune expertly explores the coming-of-age journey, grappling with faith and being affected deeply by the most seemingly innocuous experiences.

Speaking of the track, Jordana explains, “I Guess This Is Life is a song about the motions of everyday life and how experiences, no matter big or small, make up the person that you are and how you both perceive and are perceived by the world.” Jordana's upcoming EP is all set for release on December 4th this year.

Nari - “Pony”

California-based indie pop musician Nari's latest single is quintessentially her: with vulnerable lyrics singing of a breakup, the song still manages to be catchy, leaving the listener hooked instantly. The tune, with lyrics like, “You run me round in circles like a merry go round”, focuses on a difficult breakup that followed a difficult relationship. The good thing that came out of this relationship was the confidence Nari gained to start writing and releasing music, which resulted in the creation of “Pony” — actually the first song the singer ever wrote.

Black Hibiscus - “Tangerine Days”

“Tangerine Days” starts off with a sweet electric guitar melody setting the tone of the song. As Black Hibiscus’ vocals come in, you’re immediately in love. The Nigerian artist combines indie and soul creating songs full of energy. “Tangerine Days” is a perfect example of what Black Hibiscus is. The song is about looking back to a previous relationship, how you hope they’re good and how you still have love for them. It’s a sweet song, you’ll be up on your feet dancing around to it but it still has the potential for it to be a “staring at the ceiling” kind of song. Black Hibiscus will have an EP out soon, and with “Tangerine Days” being a single from it, the EP will touch on remembrance and regret. It’s something we’re excited to hear, and we’re excited to show Black Hibiscus some love.
