From The Road: Madge

BRINGING AN ENERGY LIKE NO OTHER TO EVERY SHOW - You’ve got to add Madge to your list of artists to see live. The LA-based Pop artist hones in on a plethora of electronic and energetic soundscapes to make their powerful sound. After bouncing around the globe for shows in New York and London before bouncing back for another run of US dates, Madge continues to develop as a performer, always treating their audience to an evening of entertainment - and dancing.

The self-taught producer has come a long way from their DIY roots, and exemplifies what it means to stick to your craft and be uniquely yourself. Though recognizing a range of influences from “early 2000s emo pop punk to Stravinsky to contemporary trap”, Madge is sure to put their spin on everything they do, allowing fans to step into a world that is completely, authentically, theirs.

Our latest guest for our From The Road series, we sent a Lomography camera out to get a chance to take a peak to life on the road alongside GIRLI and July Jones. Check out some photos from tour below and read on to learn about Madge’s recent shows.

LUNA: Can you share a favorite memory from your recent live shows?

MADGE: The other night in Sacramento there were several folks who sang along to my songs and that was an insane surprise. So cool to experience that.

LUNA: What's been your favorite track to play live?

MADGE: I love playing my song “H8R”. Feels good to scream.

LUNA: Do you have any preshow rituals?

MADGE: I usually put on some kind of wig and pace around humming. If this counts as ritual then….. yes.

LUNA: What's the best part of performing in a live setting?

MADGE: Doing the splits. It gets the crowd every time. They don’t even care what you sound like if you can do the splits.

LUNA: How have you seen your live performance evolve over time?

MADGE: I’ve always struggled with insecurity about my singing voice and I have finally started to feel comfortable projecting on stage. Hopefully this just continues to get better.

LUNA: What intentions do you have for the upcoming months?

MADGE: I want to be able to have a full live band for my album release. It would be such a powerful way to present the material. I’d also love to create unusual and interactive shows that cater to a small, invested audience. I’ll probably spend the summer brainstorming how to do this.
